The tax authority is understaffed

Local | By Correspondent May 11, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Sufficient ICT support and the deployment of extra staff are a precondition for achieving an optimal organization. In practice, this presents a serious bottleneck. For example, it has not been possible to deploy additional staff in recent months. This is in the latest report from the Tax Authorities.

Employees of the Stichting Overheids Accountants Bureau (SOAB) are deployed to process objections and to clean up the personal tax numbers, also known as Crib.

The Tax Authorities of the Caribbean Netherlands (the BES islands) has offered support to train employees to process changes in a more automated way. This is coupled with additional administrative procedures for obtaining the necessary resources.

The Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania promised to make the joint management report public and he is sticking to it. The authors of the reports try to improve the quality of the information and analyses. However, this requires a lot of effort.

The reporting will be further developed and expanded in the coming months and the quality of the underlying analyzes will also increase. A quick scan of the tax authorities was carried out in November and December 2021. The results of this have been used to set operational goals and objectives for 2022. Everything has been made public by the minister.
