The trial in the case ‘Freedom’ starts tomorrow

Local | By Correspondent September 5, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The trial in the case dubbed Freedom will start tomorrow. Four suspects are on trial. They are all suspected of human trafficking, human smuggling and the employment of illegal immigrants.

The Freedom case is about the exploitation of “drinking ladies” (prostitutes). But this form of modern slavery, as the Public Prosecution (OM) calls the case, is also taking place in the Curaçao construction sector and in clothing stores.

Tracing human trafficking is one of the policy spearheads of the Public Prosecution Service.
