WILLEMSTAD - The Think To DO Institute, an independent virtual think tank based in Curaçao, globally focused on best practices around ideas central to “Resilient Societies” and “the 4th Industrial Revolution”, opens its second survey, a Social Cohesion survey, for public participation.
What is Social Cohesion? Why is a Social Cohesion a Survey important, now? What are the benefits for me participating?
Social Cohesion is about the bonds we have with each other. Social Cohesion is not just about the number of connections. The quality and strength of these bonds determine how resilient, and thus, successful we become as an individual, as a community, society, and country.
Improving social cohesion is essential for greater resilience and a greater number of happy people in our community. There is evidence that the more acceptance an individual experiences in their community, the greater the number of quality relationships they have as part of their community, the greater quality of life they experience, the happier they will be! After all, all we want as individuals is to be happy.
It, therefore, serves us well to measure and gain tangible understanding of the level of social cohesion in our community. The survey will be repeated periodically. This will provide an evidence-based perspective how we are doing in terms of the strength and quality of the relationships we have with each other, now and over the long run.
The pandemic has brought painful experiences, sadness, and limitations to all of us and exposed several weaknesses in our social support system. At the same time, it is now the time for us to pull together and learn from these experiences by leveraging this survey to measure what is most essential during challenging times, the strength and quality of our relationships with each other. Together we go further. Seven times Down, Eight times UP!
The Think To DO Institute Social Cohesion survey is designed after the world-renowned Global Happiness Survey, and results will be able to be compared to that of other countries. The Survey is detailed to grasp various aspects of social cohesion and happiness and contentment of citizens.
