WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Police Corps (KPC) and its partners will hold an alcohol check this weekend. KPC and the Public Prosecution (OM) want to strengthen enforcement on alcohol because the fatal traffic accidents can unfortunately often be traced to excessive alcohol consumption.
Drinking alcohol and driving a car don't go together, two beers are often too much. Drunk driving is a crime.
Recently two drivers who were behind the wheel with too much alcohol were sentenced to fines of 800 guilders and a suspended sentence was also imposed. Every driver in traffic is responsible for himself, the people in the car but also for the people around him.
Enjoy going out but arrange your transport back in time if you drink and drive.
Help reduce the number of dead and injured in traffic. Drive safely and be wise. Alcohol inspections can take place regularly and unannounced.
