WILLEMSTAD - Police on Wednesday arrested three employees of Swissport, a ground handling company at Curaçao International Airport, on suspicion of theft aboard an aircraft.
According to police reports, the men allegedly entered the aircraft and removed items during ground operations.
Authorities say there had been ongoing suspicions of theft during aircraft handling for some time, prompting officers to conduct a targeted operation.
Police waited for the suspects to exit the plane and arrested them on the spot. Items believed to have been stolen from the aircraft were found in their possession.
The three suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.
The incident highlights growing concerns about security and integrity within airport operations, as law enforcement intensifies its oversight of cargo and ground handling activities at Curaçao’s main airport.
