Today press conference controversial Ramon Chong

Local | By Correspondent June 3, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The embattled Ramon Chong will give a press conference this afternoon. Chong is the intended Minister of Economic Development, but former CBA Television employees who worked under Chong’s management launched the attack after it became known that he will be part of the new government.

In an unmistakable letter to formateur Peterson, the former employees wrote: "With a criminal record, outstanding debts with SVB (Social Insurance Bank), Tax Authorities, landlords and employees, it is impossible for Chong to become a minister."

Ramon Chong was recently put forward by political party PNP for a post in the new Pisas cabinet. He is chairman of the PNP, an official at the Ministry of Economic Development, but also owned the TV station CBA Television (although he denies this).

And it is the former CBA employees - journalists, presenters, cameramen and technicians - who are now sounding the alarm. In a fire letter to formateur Chester Peterson, they "express their concerns". A statement from the PNP backs Chong's candidacy. Nevertheless, there is a lot of unrest within the party about whether or not to support Chong.

The topic of Chong's press conference is 'Ramon Chong's response and position'. The press conference will start at 4 p.m. and will take place at the Federashon Futbal Korsou.
