Local | By Correspondent December 1, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The demolition of the wheelchair ramp on Grote Knip which was scheduled for Monday, but it was not known yet at whose expense this will happen. After a lot of commotion about the construction of the ramp, the Council of Ministers recently decided that it should be demolished.

What is remarkable about the entire situation is that both Minister Zita Jesus-Leito of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning and Steven Martina of Economic Development have previously expressed extremely positive about the activities at Knipbaai.

Later, both indicated that they did not have the ramp in mind but the recently constructed parking lot.

An amount of 125,000 guilders has been made available by the Curacao tourism office (CTB) for the construction of the wheelchair ramp. The demolition of the construction will cost approximately 60 thousand guilders.

The question is who should pay for all costs, because the money was given at the request of the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning. The CTB has now indicated that it wants its money back.
