WILLEMSTAD - The Trabou pa Kòrsoun (Work for Curaçao) party has presented a plan to convert chicken droppings into sustainable energy. The heat released when burning chicken poo can be converted into electricity, according to the party.
The project arose from the aim to develop more sustainable energy in Curaçao. That is one of the spearheads of the party.
The party, of which former PIN Member of Parliament Rennox Calmes is the leader, wants to pay more attention to "waste management". This can be done, for example, by charging a deposit on plastic bottles and cans.
In addition, the party wants a solution to the problem of odor nuisance from a chicken farm in Sun Valley that has been going on for years.
Trabou pa Kòrsou is in favor of "an inter-ministerial policy between the Ministries of Health, Nature and Environment and Economic Development" for the benefit of the "waste management sector". According to Trabou pa Kòrsou, this could lead to projects that generate employment.
