Tracking employees attendance is not so simple

Local | By Correspondent April 17, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Government Policy, Planning and Services is responsible for the personnel policy for civil servants. This is according to Stella van Rijn, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of General Affairs. Last week there was a fuss about the days civil servants were on strike. According to the government, it is unclear which days exactly which civil servants were on strike while this was prohibited by the court.

According to Van Rijn, policy for civil servants comes via the Ministry of Policy, Planning and Services, but the policy is up to each ministry. A civil servant is required by law to work 39.5 hours a week, but supervision of attendance is not regulated the same way everywhere.

“There are nine ministries with dozens of buildings and not everyone sits behind a desk. The activities are very different. It's not as simple as people think," says van Rijn.
