Trade union hopes on support government for InselAir employees

Local | By Correspondent March 1, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Trade union UGTK / Cadmu hopes that the government will meet with the dismissed InselAir employees. In a letter to Minister Hensley Koeiman of Social Affairs, the trade union appealed to the law where employees can qualify for government support in the event of a mass dismissal.

Trade unionist Wendell Meulen cannot say anything about the amount of the aid. Employees are entitled to cessantia in any case, but this can take a few months before they get any money.

Superintendent of the airline, Rogier van den Heuvel recently indicated that he does not believe there are enough funds to pay the employees. If there are funds left at the airline, the creditors will be first.

InselAir was recently declared bankrupts by the Court of Justice after it failed to find a willing investor.
