WILLEMSTAD - The five different trade unions that represent the civil servants in Curaçao call on all civil servants to meet at the ABVO party building in Brievengat.
The ABVO, NAPB, SAP, SITEK and STRAF unions yesterday made a dramatic appeal to its members to come in large numbers. The reason is a letter that Minister Armin Konket of Government Policy, Planning and Services has sent.
The officials find the content unacceptable. The reason for the disagreement is that the unions want the minister to indicate when civil servants can expect wage indexation and when the government will pay an agreed lump sum of 3 percent. Konket says there is no money to pay for this and wants to talk about increasing labor productivity in the civil service.
Several government departments are closed today, including immigration service and the civil registrar’s office.
