Trade unions threaten with protests

Local | By Correspondent July 10, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Selikor (waste disposal company) and educational staff unions were already on alert last weekend, and on Monday the refinery unions joined.

They call the uncertain future of the refinery an attack on their incomes and a reason for uncertainty among the entire population of Curacao. The unions call on their members to stand by for actions which can be called at any time.

Just like their predecessors, the Isla unions now warn that they will not remain silent and watch while jobs of "hard-working workers are being sacrificed." Apri and PWFC unions indicate that they will continue to monitor the situation for the benefit of the members in particular and the entire working class of Curaçao in general. In this context and "considering the threat of the announced measures", the unions are asking their members to stand by and, if necessary, take to the streets and fight for the rights of the working class.
