WILLEMSTAD - Colleges and Universities in the Netherlands want a "transition year" for Caribbean students to make the start a bit smoother. This year can be used to get used to the Dutch language and culture.
There will also be more guidance in choosing a study program. This is what chairman Ron Bormans of the Executive Board of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences says on NPO Radio 1.
Last month, the National Ombudsman concluded in a report that Caribbean students encounter many problems while studying in the Netherlands. Bormans hopes to generate a better course of the study with a transition year and help with the 'bureaucratic jungle' in the Netherlands.
