WILLEMSTAD - The transportation of five wind turbines destined for Koraal Tabak will commence on Monday and will take a total of one month, as announced by Aqualectra in an official statement on Thursday.
The transportation of the wind turbines from the Brionwerf may cause temporary traffic disruptions, according to the utility company. The components, consisting of long pipes and blades, will be transported between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM in the mornings and between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM in the afternoons on weekdays. On weekends, the transport will take place between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM in the mornings and between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM in the afternoons. “The largest components will be transported as much as possible on weekends,” stated Aqualectra.
The transport will be supported by the police. Traffic disruptions may occur in the Nieuwe Haven, Schottegatweg Zuid, the Santa Rosa roundabout, and the road to Santa Catharina.
The wind turbines will arrive on the island on Friday. The transport was initially scheduled for August 6, with a test run on August 3, but due to the early arrival, the turbines can be transported sooner.
The final concrete for the wind turbine foundations will be poured on Saturday.
