Travel between the islands from Sunday without a passport

Local | By Correspondent May 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - From Sunday, May 1, passengers from Curaçao no longer need to show a passport to travel to the BES islands and Sint Maarten. From then on, showing a sédula, or ID is sufficient.

It is a trial to improve travel between the countries. At the end of this year, it will be decided whether the measure will actually optimize travel traffic and whether the rule will come into effect permanently.

Aruba is not yet participating in the trial. Traveling from Aruba to the BES islands, Curaçao and Sint Maarten is possible without a passport, but not the other way around. A passport is therefore still required to enter Aruba.
