WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) will pay out the corona support to the unemployed for the last time on Tuesday 21 December. The ministry has announced this.
At the end of this month, the government will stop providing corona support to all individuals and companies affected by the pandemic. The government's financial resources are exhausted. In addition, the economy is showing signs of recovery. Tourism, in particular, is having a peak year. Tourism figures are better than before the Covid-19 outbreak.
This will put an end to the credit card that welfare recipients and the unemployed received for their monthly shopping. The payment of the job loss benefit of a maximum of 1000 guilders per month will also stop.
This year, the government will not pay an end-of-year bonus to welfare recipients. Pre-Covid-19 they received a bonus of 100 guilders in December. Because they received extra support throughout the year, it was decided not to do this.
