Tumba Icon Ike Jesurun Pays Courtesy Visit to Governor of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – On Monday, January 19, 2026, Curaçao’s Tumba icon Ike Jesurun paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort. Jesurun was accompanied by the board of the Asosashon di Musiko i Artista di Kòrsou (AMAK).

Also present were AMAK board members Manfred Gomes (president), Hunneley Felicia (vice president), Giovanni Atalita (secretary), Curtley “Gino” Valeriaan (treasurer), Jourich “Brelo” Christina (commissioner), and Riginald Maduro (press officer).

During the visit, Jesurun and the AMAK board briefed the Governor on preparations for the upcoming Tumba Festival, which this year is dedicated to Ike Jesurun. Each year, the festival honors an icon of the Tumba genre in recognition of their contribution to Curaçao’s musical heritage.

The meeting also reflected on the historical development of the Tumba Festival and underscored the importance of Tumba as a key element of Curaçao’s musical and cultural identity.

The visit highlighted the continued collaboration between cultural institutions and the Office of the Governor in promoting and preserving Curaçao’s rich cultural traditions.
