FALCON - Two men from Curaçao have been arrested in Venezuela. They are held in the detention center of the Venezuelan intelligence headquarters and are suspected of involvement in human trafficking. Various Venezuelan media report this.
Sergei Paulus Pamphis Diomedes and Isidro Anacario were arrested in early December in Falcón state on Venezuela's northern coast, along with Henry Jesús Gotopo López and Hender Jesús Gotopo Antequera. That happened during a regular check of the national guard La Guardia Nacional Boliviana. The officers found 157 passports in a bag that the foursome had with them; 154 Venezuelan and three Peruvian/Spanish passports.
According to the public prosecutor, the four have ties to an organized crime gang. The gang recruits Venezuelans who are tricked with jobs offerings in the oil industry abroad.
In addition to illegal human trafficking, the men are also accused by the Public Prosecution Service of Venezuela of involvement in a criminal organization and the unlawful appropriation of functions.
