Two-time killer asks for ankle bracelet

Local | By Correspondent November 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The 36-year-old Jair Leuteria yesterday asked the judge whether he can be released early and can go home with an ankle bracelet. Leuteria was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2006 for two murders he committed in 2002. According to his lawyer, it is better for the rehabilitation of Leuteria that he can be released early. The public prosecutor does not agree and emphasized that telephones and drugs have been found in Leuteria's cell several times. The judge will rule in three weeks.

In addition, the man fled from prison in 2009. He committed several robberies, for which he was also convicted. The public prosecutor therefore sees no reason whatsoever to release Leuteria early. Precisely because he has not managed to behave. According to the officer, an early release is for people who have behaved correctly during their sentence. Not for people who go wrong again and again in prison.
