WILLEMSTAD - Last weekend there were two fatal traffic victims. In the night from Friday to Saturday, a motorcyclist died in hospital after an accident on the Juliana Bridge. A woman died on Sunday at the Nieuwe Haven. They are the fifth and sixth road deaths of 2022.
Police say the motorcyclist collided with a passenger car for unknown reasons. Both came from Punda and drove towards Otrobanda. The victim suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital. There he died. The man was a military officer with the Royal Netherlands Police.
The second fatal road accident occurred on Sunday. A car rolled over on the Nieuwe Haven. This happened near the APC building. A woman died on the spot. The other occupants, including tourists, were taken to the hospital. According to police, the driver of the car that overturned probably lost control. The driver may have been speeding.
