WILLEMSTAD – Tyron Boekhoudt has successfully completed the screening process required for his appointment as Minister of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN). Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas confirmed this on Tuesday, marking a key step toward Boekhoudt’s formal nomination.
Boekhoudt is a member of the governing party Movementu Futuro Korsou (MFK) and previously served as a member of the Curaçao Parliament. In October last year, he vacated his parliamentary seat to allow then-Minister of GMN Javier Silvania to return to Parliament on behalf of MFK.
The intended appointment comes at a time when the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature is facing a broad range of policy challenges, including healthcare governance, environmental protection, and nature conservation. The ministry has been without a permanent minister since Silvania’s departure, with responsibilities temporarily redistributed within the cabinet.
Prime Minister Pisas did not indicate when Boekhoudt’s appointment will be formally finalized. Once completed, Boekhoudt is expected to assume responsibility for several high-profile and complex portfolios that are central to Curaçao’s social and environmental policy agenda.
