WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao's civil service is down today. The unions ABVO, STrAF, SAP, NAPB and SITEK called on all its members to go on strike.
On Wednesday they asked their members with a signature campaign whether they wanted to take action. According to the unions, many officials have signed and an action is taking place today against the decision of the government to cut 12.5 percent on the working conditions of officials.
The government made the decision on this on July 16. According to the unions, the decision is illegal.
They demand that the government reverse the decision. Curaçao has implemented the wage cut because the Netherlands has made it a condition for new corona loans.
