University is struggling with major overdue maintenance

Local | By Correspondent March 29, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The University of Curaçao is struggling with major overdue maintenance because there is no money. The roof construction of the library has fiber-enforced cement plates containing asbestos, some of which have broken off. Inside, the ceiling is loose and can collapse at any time.

The water tube is so calcified that only a little water comes out. The fuse boxes are 35 years old and should be replaced for safety reasons. The Faculty of Technical Sciences has calculated that 1.2 million guilders are needed to restore everything. A structural contribution from the government is therefore necessary.
