'University of Curaçao is working hard on accreditation'

Local | By Correspondent September 6, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - According to Rector Magnificus Francis de Lanoy, the university is well on its way to achieving accreditation. He announced this during the opening speech of the new academic year.

“The UoC can assist in knowledge, research and development for the country,” said De Lanoy. In addition, according to the Rector Magnificus, the UoC is unique because there is a lot of personal attention for students and they do not feel like they are just a number. The objectives for this year are focused on strengthening cooperation among university staff.

Many parents of students at the UoC wonder about the university's accreditation. De Lanoy explains in his speech that the university for the most part has positive assessments according to the NVAO (Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organization) and is now in the third phase of the accreditation process. To complete this process, the university is now in the initial phase of an institution-wide quality assessment. “The ultimate goal is accreditation just like in other countries.”
