Local | By Correspondent December 28, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The multidisciplinary team seized unsafe fireworks from four fireworks vendors yesterday. The fireworks were put up for sale while they have not yet been tested by the government.

This was announced by the inspection department of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO). In addition to MEO, the audit team consisted of the Fire Brigade, the Tax Audit Office (SBAB), the Public Works Department (DOW), and the Special Laws Police Unit (UBW).

At Goon Lee on Jongbloedweg, 63 boxes of decorative fireworks called 'Don't mess with me' have been seized. The inspectors have taken boxes of Fontana Royale and Rapid Fire out of circulation at Alivio on the Caracasbaaiweg. Sixteen Magical Barrage were taken from the branch at Jan Noorduynweg.

The Alivio sales point on FD Rooseveltweg also had fireworks in its range that have not yet passed the inspection. The confiscated fireworks were brought to the Kruithuis for storage.

The inspection team also issued warnings to three Alivio salespeople who were not wearing facemasks. Furthermore, it has been found that most fireworks sellers do not list the currency of the fireworks.

Finally, fireworks salesman Bryan David in Mahaai has been commissioned to repair a hole in the roof of the container. The fireworks that are stored in the container can get wet when it rains, according to MEO.

Bryan David's branch at Sta. Rosaweg, Mou fireworks at Grote Berg and Colorfull Fireworks in Suffisant met all requirements.
