“Delivering Education Beyond the Pandemic”.
WILLEMSTAD - In 2018, the Center for Digital Learning of the University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez launched the first Education with Technology conference that focused on the education of the future and the importance of technology in it. Then a guest speaker from one of our conference partners indicated that we in education run the risk of being out of a job in 2025, because we have not taken into account technological developments in education.
It didn't take that long: in March 2020, we got a preview of this situation with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the first lockdown, teachers, and educators (alongside other members of our society) were at a loss: what next? Everything was used as a communication tool to be able to reach each other and in particular pupils and students. That has had its advantages and disadvantages that we gradually had to experience in the year 2020. The mini-conference that could not be organized in March 2020, because there was no time to organize it quickly from on-site to online. At the end of October 2020, the conference took place virtually and various organizations, including schools, had to find their way in the world of application of technology in education.
This year's Education with Technology Conference 2021 is titled: “Delivering Education Beyond The Pandemic”.
In the second lockdown period (2021) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we more or less got an idea of which technology could be applied in a responsible and safe way. However, the transition from on-site didactics with the usual teaching methods to an online version of the activities was not always clear. We will pay the necessary attention to this in the mini conference of March 2021.
What have we learned so far, what have been the good ideas, what have been the less good ones? How do we proceed now? We must share these experiences, lessons learned and best practices, the do's and the don'ts with each other and that is what we will do during the Education with Technology Conference UoC 2021 on October 28 and 29.
