WILLEMSTAD - CHIPI customer Maria van Os has lost the lawsuit against telecommunication company UTS. Van Os took the case because of the abrupt policy changes to the detriment of the customer, including the term for retaining call credit.
The court ruled that an individual cannot stand up for the general consumer interest. The requirement that UTS complies with the old conditions is therefore rejected. Also, Van Os would not have put forward enough evidence to show that the conditions would be unreasonably onerous for her as an individual.
Van Os now has to pay court costs and UTS’ lawyers.
