Update: FFK and Bicentini settle

Local | By Correspondent November 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Football Association FFK and former national coach Remko Bicentini have reached an agreement. This morning during a summary proceeding that was filed by the FFK against Bicentini, a settlement was reached. That reports the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Bicentini disagreed with his lump-sum payment. It is not known what the scheme looks like. The agreement also clears the way for Guus Hiddink to become the national coach. He wanted everything to be handled properly with his predecessor first.

After a successful series with Curacao, Bicentini had to hear from the media that he had been fired to make way for Hiddink. He then disagreed with his terms of dismissal - until this morning.

Press release:

FFK and former national coach come to an agreement

WILLEMSTAD - Federashon di Futbòl Kòrsou (FFK) and former national coach Remko Bicentini reached an agreement on Thursday, November 12 during summary proceedings. The parties have reached a total lump sum payment that is to the satisfaction of both parties.

FFK has started a lawsuit against the former national coach of Curaçao. The background to these interim relief proceedings lies in the financial settlement of Bicentini's contract. In that context, Bicentini has sent a letter to the Coaches Paid Football (CBV) trade union requesting the association to inform its members not to enter into a contract with FFK as long as the termination has not yet been settled with him, referring to the current 'honorary code'.

Intended national coach Guus Hiddink is a member and co-founder of this association and has indicated that he will respect the code of honor and await the settlement of FFK with Bicentini.

FFK wanted to ensure by means of summary proceedings that Bicentini would withdraw his request to the CBV, which he had so far refused, so that FFK could continue the negotiations with Guus Hiddink. By reaching a financial agreement today, the honorary code is no longer in force and the way has been cleared for (negotiations with) Guus Hiddink.
