WILLEMSTAD - The Inex2.0 investigation team is returning from the Netherlands today. After several arrests were made in Curacao in December 2021, arrests were also made in the Netherlands on January 18 and 22, 2022. Two men, aged 27 and 33, have been arrested with the intention deporting them to Curacao.
Prior to the arrests, the examining magistrate in Curacao had issued a detention order for the suspects for a period of 8 days. This term has now been extended by 8 days in both cases. One of the suspects arrested in the Netherlands is an ex-police officer of the Curacao Police Corps. The investigation team and the Public Prosecution Service assume that they have taken the mastermind behind the burglary into custody with the arrest of this man.
The 3 suspects who were arrested in Curacao in December 2021 are still in pre-trial detention in the SDKK prison. The investigation is continuing in Curacao and the Netherlands and more arrests are not ruled out. The Public Prosecution indicated that in the interest of the investigation, no further announcements can be made at this time.
