Update: Orco Bank stops donations to Schotte's account

Local | By Correspondent May 5, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Gerrit Schotte can no longer receive donations on his personal account. The Orco Bank has blocked this account. Schotte himself announced this on social media.

The former prime minister convicted of corruption must pay 1.8 million guilders to the Public Prosecution Service no later than May 12. He would have obtained this amount through official bribery. If he does not come up with the money, he faces a prison term of 3 years. Schotte now wants to have the blockade lifted by means of summary proceedings. So far he has received more than 40,000 guilders from sympathizers. Of this, 30,000 guilders have already been deposited into the account of the Public Prosecution Service.
