WILLEMSTAD - The United States has downgraded Curaçao in its approach to human trafficking and exploitation. Curaçao has fallen to its lowest level. For example, the island does not meet the minimum standards. No significant efforts are being made to comply with this either.
According to the Curaçao government, there is a lack of financial resources to structurally tackle human trafficking. The government will do everything in its power to change this in the short term. For example, cooperation with organizations involved in tackling human trafficking will be intensified. Furthermore, knowledge about this problem is increased by means of courses.
