Vaccination bus goes into the neighborhoods

Local | By Correspondent April 28, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - As the number of registrations for vaccinations has fallen sharply, new ways are being sought to make it easier for people to get vaccinated. The government is therefore going to deploy mobile vaccination centers in the neighborhoods.

A pilot of the "Bibando den Bario" program started this week and the project will be evaluated on May 2 and possibly extended to several neighborhoods on the island.

It is said that the bus - the "Bus di Bakuna" - will rotate locations. It is always placed at a central point in the neighborhood. In addition, residents of the neighborhoods can be brought to the registration and vaccination location with a small shuttle bus.

The government hopes that in this way more residents will still choose to have themselves vaccinated so that the desired vaccination rate of 85 percent can ultimately be achieved.
