Cruise tourism to Curaçao should get a huge boost. The General Pension Fund Curaçao is the new owner of the Plaza Hotel. Together with the Heritage Plaza Consortium, they developed a vision, which was presented yesterday. Hans de Boer, on behalf of the Heritage Plaza Consortium, said he was thinking, among other things, of art by Vincent van Gogh in the Plaza Hotel.
Yesterday it was also indicated that the project with the Plaza Hotel will create many jobs. According to De Boer, this will initially involve 1500 new jobs. "And once it starts operating, we expect it to create between 3,000 and 5,000 structural new jobs as a result of tourism growth," said De Boer.
