WILLEMSTAD - Employees of the Representation of the Netherlands in Willemstad paid a visit to the Aliens Detention Center at Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK) to fulfill a promise made by State Secretary Aldxandra Van Huffelen.
During a visit in December to the Aliens Reception and Detention Center (VODC), where mainly Venezuelans who have fled their country are detained, the State Secretary promised to donate soccer balls for recreational activities.
“The foreigners were very happy with the balls,” the Representation reports on its website.
This week, at the suggestion of Marieke Koekoek of the Volt party, the House of Representatives Committee for Kingdom Relations asked Van Huffelen for a response to a recent report by Amnesty International that Dutch support has not led to a significant improvement in the way in which Venezuelan refugees/ migrants are treated.
