WILLEMSTAD - Anyone who wants to pay their vehicle tax now has a problem though. The tax authorities are not yet ready to receive payments. The law prescribes that the tax must be paid for every vehicle before February 1. Otherwise, they are not allowed on the road.
But the new stickers haven't arrived yet. It is expected that they will be delivered at the end of January and then the tax department will start immediately.
Curaçao has about 90,000 cars on the road, according to the insurance companies. That number is probably higher, because police checks and accidents show that a large part is not insured or pays taxes.
