WILLEMSTAD – Leaders, members of solidarity groups, Venezuelan nationals and residents of Curaçao visited the Venezuelan Consulate General in Curaçao to sign a Book of Condolences in honor of those who lost their lives in Caracas during the early hours of January 3, 2026, when a military operation targeted Venezuela, according to reports from Venezuelan officials. The military action involved attacks on multiple sites in Caracas and was widely condemned as a violation of international law.
Signatories at the consulate expressed their sympathy for the victims and conveyed strong wishes for the swift release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were taken into custody by United States forces during the same operation. Reports indicate that they were transported to the United States where legal proceedings are expected to follow.
The condolence book event at the consulate served as both a tribute to those killed in the attack and as a space of solidarity with the Venezuelan people during the ongoing political and diplomatic crisis.
