Vocation school FEFFIK cannot open its doors yet

Local | By Correspondent September 3, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Public School Board (DOS) has reported that the former vocational school and second chance education Feffik in Brievengat cannot yet open due to so-called transition preparations.

It is the umpteenth setback for the school that has since been named "secondary vocational training Nilda Pinta locality Brievengat".

Students and parents are asked to be patient. The official opening will be announced.

Each student will be approached individually for more details, says the Public School Board in a message to parents and students.  The DOS confirms that it concerns approximately 200 students who want to start a technical course. "An SBO course is not so tightly tied to a school year from September to July and it is possible to start a little later," says the DOS board. In the meantime, the organization is recruiting staff. This also includes people who worked at the Feffik.

The school has been struggling with organizational and administrative problems for years.
