WILLEMSTAD - On November 27, the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP) hosted a special training session for newly hired civil servants, focusing on the government’s official Code of Conduct. The session was designed to equip new employees with a clear understanding of their rights, obligations, and responsibilities as public officials.

The Code of Conduct is based on the Landsverordening Materieel Ambtenarenrecht (LMA), which outlines the fundamental norms and values expected of civil servants in Curaçao’s public sector. During the session, participants received practical guidance on key topics including:
integrity
transparency
confidentiality obligations
professional workplace behavior
respectful interaction with colleagues
and other essential elements of ethical public service
Training Facilitated by Certified Internal Trainers
The workshop was led by internal facilitators who were previously trained by the Human Resources & Organization (HRO) department. This internal model ensures that crucial knowledge remains within the ministry and can be passed on consistently and sustainably.
Through real-life case examples, interactive discussions, and practical scenarios, new civil servants gained a clear understanding of how the Code of Conduct must be applied in their daily duties.
Commitment to Professionalism and a Safe Work Culture
With this introduction training, VVRP reaffirms its commitment to:
professional development
integrity
transparency
and fostering a safe and healthy work culture within the public sector
The ministry emphasized that continuous training is essential to maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring that civil servants uphold the values expected of them by the community they serve.
