WILLEMSTAD - The waiting time for a driving test in Curaçao has increased to four months, according to Minister of Administration and Planning Armin Konket.
According to Konket, the cause of the delay is that there are not enough examiners. Hiring new people is not an option, as the financial means are lacking.
Falling back on retired examiners, as sometimes happened in the past, cannot be considered due to lack of money, according to Konket.
In 2019, the Driving License Office was discredited when four employees were sentenced to a fine and community service for providing driving licenses on request, without having to pass an exam. A driving instructor who used this construction said he bought driver's licenses to avoid the long waiting times for driving tests.
