Waste company working to clear backlog

Local | By Correspondent July 13, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Waste management company Selikor is hard at work clearing the backlog of the past few weeks. Neighborhoods were also visited on weekends to collect household waste. Selikor is expected to be able to use the regular schedule again from today.

Selikor worked extra hours last week, deployed extra manpower and garbage trucks to collect garbage in several neighborhoods. Beaches have also been visited in this context, Selikor said in a press release.

“As a company responsible for the island's cleaning policy, Selikor remains fully committed to fulfilling its duties and normalizing garbage collection as soon as possible. The aim is to use the usual schedule again at the beginning of the new week.”

Selikor claims to know that the situation in recent weeks has been "uncomfortable" for residents who have experienced an accumulation of household waste. “Selikor once again apologizes for this. The management guarantees that our staff is working hard to normalize the situation.”
