WILLEMSTAD - Last Friday, the court of Curaçao declared the bankruptcy of 27 Bar & Terrace in Pietermaai. This means that the doors of the entertainment venue remain definitively closed.
At the beginning of this year, it was already announced that the popular bar on the De Ruyterkade on the Waaigat was struggling due to the corona measures and therefore had to close. Especially the curfew and the temporary alcohol ban seemed to end the matter at the time.
The Curaçao Restaurant Association already warned that the restrictive measures due to the corona pandemic would mainly affect the catering industry.
An ad in the local newspapers shows that lawyer Stan van Liere of the firm HBN Law & Tax has been appointed as trustee. The advertisement calls on creditors to submit their claim to the trustee for verification. It is not yet known whether the bankruptcy was declared at the owner’s own request.
