WILLEMSTAD - In recent days, various messages have been posted by third parties on various social media. For that reason, Wimco considers it desirable to give a brief explanation of the current situation.
On Thursday, December 18, 2019, Wimco deemed it necessary - through its shareholders - to file for its own bankruptcy. The reason for this is that Wimco was confronted with - in particular - the declining economy and purchasing power - faced with seriously declining revenues, while the costs of business operations remained or increased consistently. After months of trying and searching for alternative options, Wimco regrets that it was impossible to conduct a healthy business. Wimco was no longer able to pay its debts. This eventually led to the request for private bankruptcy. Wimco does note that up to now there has only been a petition for its own bankruptcy and that no judicial decision has yet been taken. It is for that reason that Wimco will not go into the matter in substance.
Wimco will, in any case, remain open to its customers until the bankruptcy is pronounced. It will give large discounts on our products in the coming period. Wimco wants to thank all its customers for their trust and dedication over the past 91 years.
