WILLEMSTAD - A woman got lost in the mondi near Mal Pais yesterday, but was rescued because she had a phone with her with enough battery. She had gone for a walk yesterday morning and apparently lost her way.
Police received a report of the disappearance around 4:30 p.m. Contact could be made with the woman by telephone, but this did not lead to immediate results because the woman was unable to provide identification points and did not know where she was.
Last month a Dutch tourist died when he got lost in the area of the Christoffel Park.
The police eventually received support from the voluntary corps VKC and the Curaçao Militia, but it was only when the coastguard flew a helicopter over the area that the woman was located around 5:40 p.m.
She was found in a nearly unconscious condition and was then taken by helicopter to a Mount Pleasant church where an ambulance was waiting to take her to the CMC for observation.
