WILLEMSTAD - The basic need for connectedness is poorly fulfilled with working from home in Curaçao. This has emerged from research by the University of Curaçao (UoC) into the experiences with working from home and home education on the island.
The survey was conducted among 1,123 respondents consisting of 596 homeworkers and 527 students who followed online homeschooling.
Both the students and the homeworkers did not have sufficient access to the right means to work at home, such as a quiet workplace, childcare, a working computer or stable internet. In homeschooling, students often reported that it had a negative impact on their psychological well-being, motivation for school and their academic performance.
