Working group appointed to reduce costs CMC

Local | By Correspondent September 17, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - It is now clear that financially it is not going very well with the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC); the costs/expenses are too high and the income/income is the low. The government has therefore appointed a working group to find out how costs can be reduced permanently.

CMC has already asked for help several times, but the situation now appears to be really dire. It is reported that it will even become difficult to provide elective care from next week, extending the already long waiting lists.

Partly for this reason, the Minister of Health, Dorothy Pietersz-Janga, has appointed the working group to ensure a drastic reduction in costs as quickly as possible.

However, Pietersz-Janga does urge everyone that 'health is everyone's own responsibility and that the government can only help to a certain extent'.
