Zero tolerance policy at New Year

Local | By Correspondent December 31, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service announced yesterday that around the turn of the year, the police and the Public Prosecution Service will have a "zero tolerance" policy.

In this way it is thought that the corona measures can best be controlled. Setting a zero-tolerance policy has become possible with the passing of an emergency law early this month.

The law also made it possible to hand out fines to people and companies that do not comply with the corona measures. A total of 158 fines have already been issued for amounts between 500 and 5000 guilders.

The Public Prosecution Service makes it clear that everyone risks a fine around New Year's Eve if he or she does not comply with the corona rules, such as the curfew and the prohibition on drinking alcohol in public.
