Zr.Ms. Groningen supports Search and Rescue action

WILLEMSTAD - Zr.Ms. On May 4, 2019, Groningen provided support to the "Party Warrior" motor yacht that had propulsion problems near Bullen Bay. Fifteen people were on board. After the May Day call on VHF 16, the two FRISCs (fast interception vessels) from the Groningen were deployed to set course for the vessel. Zr.Ms. Groningen has taken the vessel on tow and subsequently successfully transferred it to Dick Braakman, the ship of the Citizens Rescue Organization (Citro).

Tasks Zr.Ms. Groningen

Zr.Ms. Groningen has been active in the Caribbean since April 20, 2019. The ship is used to act during counter-drug operations and during humanitarian assistance. In addition, it is also used for various coastguard tasks in the Caribbean such as tracing illegal fishing, environmental crimes and deployment during Search and Rescue actions. To perform these tasks, Zr.Ms. Groningen is equipped with two FRISCs (fast interception vessel) and an NH-90 helicopter.
