Main news | By Correspondent November 9, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - While the number of cases of COVID-19 in Curaçao is increasing, Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has also registered an increase in the number of employees who have tested positive for the virus. In total, 36 staff members have now tested positive since the start of the pandemic; of these, 16 cases are now active and 20 have since been recovered.

Of the staff members who tested positive, most work in healthcare, several of them in the COVID-19 department. The staff members who have tested positive are in isolation at home and are not allowed to return to the workplace until they have fully recovered. Meanwhile, the American team has been activated to provide assistance in the COVID-19 ward and elsewhere as needed to continue providing care to all patients.

CMC emphasizes the importance for both CMC employees and the entire community to continue to follow hygiene and social distance rules - both in the workplace and beyond - to protect themselves and others.
