2 million for IC staff in the CMC

Main news | By Correspondent August 14, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - 2 million guilders have now been released to help the hospital with extra staff in the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC). Code black must be prevented.

Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas said in a press conference this week that the hospital staff are physically and mentally exhausted. This is due to the increase in hospital admissions due to COVID-19.

Medical personnel are being sought, but the costs are high. Housing in particular is expensive, which is a large part of the budget. The CMC is requesting 40 nurses and 8 medical specialists. Minister of Public Health Dr. Dorothy Pietersz-Janga says that not only Curaçao, but also Aruba and Sint Maarten have a shortage of medical personnel.
