APC continues with Plaza Hotel project despite pandemic

Main news | By Correspondent April 16, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The General Pension Fund Curaçao (APC) has worked with Heritage Plaza Consortium (HPC) behind the scenes and despite the pandemic to prepare for the development of the Plaza project. This APC announced this in a press release. “This is the commitment of both HPC and APC with Curaçao and with respect for our Unesco World Heritage status in particular.”

The APC then states that "in the past period, various parties have viewed the Plaza building without any obligation and without any commitment from APC and or HPC".

"Viewing by interested parties may continue to be the case in the future, without necessarily implying any relationship and or commitment from APC and or HPC in any form whatsoever."

Although the APC does not address a specific party, it seems that this is a response to various questions from the media about the recent visit of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte to the Plaza building.

The pension fund states in its statement that it will provide more information in the coming months together with the HPC about when the final rollout of the Plaza project will take place.

“Many professional parties - both in the Netherlands and locally, have signed up to provide support to the project in one way or another, which the consortium of APC and HPC particularly appreciates.

Given the iconic location in the middle of the protected cityscape of Curaçao, parties will continue to provide information as the project progresses. APC continues to build for the future!” concluded the press release.
